What was the highlight of Casual del Teatro Madrid

More smart than casual !!

The location, quirkiness of the hotel and individuality. The guy on reception went into detail about the history of the hotel and was attentive. Every staff member was polite and came across they enjoyed working there and it wasn't just a job. Perfect location, easily accessible, less than 5 min walk from Sol which is a lovely affluent area.

The shower could be better and the breakfast choice was limited in options.

Great for a short stay. The central position in Madrid makes it easy to walk to so many places. Love the breakfast buffet on the roof terrace!

Only thing was the lift was partly working for a day but this wasn't really a problem.

I have used this hotel for at least fifteen days a year for the past 30 years (barring lockdown). It is conveniently placed for Central Madrid. The breakfast when I take it, infrequently, is acceptable but more expensive than on the street nearby.

A reasonable hotel that's very well located and not bad value for money

I was a bit disappointed with this hotel. The photos on Booking.com make it look a lot funkier than it is. My room had one feature wall but the rest of the walls were white but with gaudily coloured furniture to try and make it look more interesting. The high ceiling was a deep blue and the paint was cracking. The room was rather boxy but a reasonable size, although the TV was high above the tall wardrobe. No kettle, safe or fridge. The bathroom was colourless but a good size and the shower was powerful although the shower kept coming loose of the fitting. The bed was big and comfy. Breakfast was very good with a delightful waitress. The hotel is very well positioned in the downtown, in easy reach of several metro stops and close to many good shops, cafes and restaurants. The receptionist was very cheerful and helpful.

The reception was very small and the lift is tiny (no more than 1 person with a large suitcase) and it broke down twice in the 2 days I was there. As the rooms have laminate floors with high ceilings the footfall above tends to echo downwards - my room was below the breakfast area so I was woken around 6.30 each morning with the breakfast staff starting work and walking around.

Would stay there again and met my expectations. Convenient location.

Location was great because it was in the middle of everything In city center to walk too. It can be a little noisy from the street at night but I was expecting that as trade off for location. Staff was nice and helpful.

Water pressure with hot water was low but not unusual in older buildings. Still acceptable. Some minor Mantenance items could be fixed but also not uncommon if you like to stay in places that have character.
